Cult. A large herb (30-150 cm. high) of the arum family with arrow-shaped leaves. The leaf stalk inserts into the middle of the leaf.The tuberous root stock is eaten in sweet stews. It is an insurance crop which is eaten boiled or baked in times of famine. The leaves and shoots are also used as a vegetable and are called (WBM) tuved.
