Cult. If a person refuses to eat food that is offered him, for whatever reason, or if he forgets to eat food that he was craving, it is believed that he will be bitten by a venomous snake and will die. In order to counteract this, the person must say sebatsebat or either touch the food (egsebat-sebat) before daring to walk outside. Secondarily, this word can also refer to a person who is killed by a (mangngayew) as a result of stealing what was meant to be a peace offering.
