a feast marking the end of a period of mourning
Cult. usually on the ninth day after a death, but on the seventh day after the death of a child. Cooked rice and chicken liver is offered to the spirit of the deceased in order that he will eat it and then depart from the village. It is believed that failure to honour this custom will cause calamity for the family and other villagers.
